John's Radio History

John St.Augustine has been called "The new voice of America" by Charles Osgood and "The most influential voice on radio" by NY Times best-selling author Cheryl Richardson. He is the creator and host of Power!Talk Radio, a nationally syndicated show that brings together a viewing of points that empowers listeners with a renewed sense of responsibility and life's possibilities. St.Augustine has won The Michigan Association of Broadcasters Best Talk Radio Award for 1999-2000-2001 and its Merit Award in 1998. Since his first air date on August 27th, 1998, St.Augustine has broadcast over 7,500 shows.

It took St.Augustine nearly a decade to map out his journey and find his calling in talk radio. The turning point came in 1996. A native of Chicago, St.Augustine moved to Michigan, two weeks after the move he began a walk from Michigan to Chicago and back, just over one thousand miles. It was a "walk to his new self" and on that walk he thought about a radio show that would take a look at all issues from a new perspective, beyond the rhetoric and gossip that would change his life (and thousands of others.) He completed his adventure in November of 1996.

In August on of 1997, after being turned down by numerous radio stations, a CBS affiliate gave him a chance, one hour a week for five weeks. "I think four people were listening, and three were related to me." But the show steadily grew and caught on in a big way. In 1999 he moved to an ABC affiliate, The Radio Results Network replacing the Dr. Laura show. It has become the most listened to program in the Midwest, broadcasting 3 hours a day in afternoon drive time and watched on television via Charter Communications in 80 markets.

Guest's flock to the show, knowing the time they spend with St.Augustine not only entertains but also inspires. Christopher Reeve, Dorothy Hamill, Bill Kurtis, Pat Buchanan, Catherine Crier, Wayne Dyer, Cheryl Richardson, Jerry Kramer and Mimi Kennedy are just a few of the thousands of guests that have appeared. John St.Augustine's greatest achievement is not the numerous broadcasting awards or the accolades but rather his kidney donation to his 14-year-old daughter Amanda.

St.Augustine is a sought after speaker on communication and human potential who has presented to over one million people from all walks of life. His is the author of All Are Chosen, writes a weekly syndicated column and is currently working on two books, a novel called Forever and Uncommon Sense: A Handbook for Humans. In addition he is a contributor to the Chicken Soup for the Soul series and creator of Powerthoughts! A syndicated radio vignette.
